Shipping to Puerto Rico & US Territories (Address Format)
When shipping to Puerto Rico and other US territories, carriers require specific address formats in Cahoot's Edit Address dialog. Using the wrong format will cause label creation to fail. The correct format depends on which carrier you intend to use — USPS handles these destinations differently than FedEx, UPS, and DHL.
USPS Address Format
USPS treats US territories as domestic destinations. When creating a USPS shipping label for a US territory address, format the address in Cahoot as follows:
- State/Province — Select the full territory name (e.g., Puerto Rico)
- Country — Select United States
Example: USPS shipment to Puerto Rico
FedEx, UPS, and DHL Address Format
FedEx, UPS, and DHL (Express and eCommerce) treat US territory shipments as international. When creating a label with any of these carriers, format the address in Cahoot as follows:
- State/Province — Use the two-character abbreviation (e.g., PR for Puerto Rico)
- Country — Select the territory name (e.g., Puerto Rico)
Example: FedEx/UPS/DHL shipment to Puerto Rico
