Blocking USPS Ground Advantage for Specific SKUs
USPS Ground Advantage is a cost-effective shipping service that combines the former Parcel Select and Retail Ground services into a single option. While this service often provides the lowest shipping rates for lightweight packages, delivery performance metrics don't always meet seller expectations, particularly for time-sensitive orders.
The "Never Use USPS Ground Advantage" setting allows you to block this service for specific SKUs, even when it would be the cheapest option. This SKU-level restriction gives you control over shipping reliability by forcing Cahoot to select alternative USPS services and carriers like UPS or FedEx instead.
Enable "Never Use USPS Ground Advantage" for SKUs that require:
- Reliable delivery timing (SFP orders, time-sensitive products)
- Consistent tracking performance (high-value items)
- Dependable carrier service (fragile or critical products)
Trade-off: Shipping costs may increase, but delivery reliability typically improves with UPS/FedEx Ground services.
1Access Package Manager Data for your SKU:
- Products Page → Edit Package Data
2Complete required fields (packaging, weight, etc.)
3Check the box: "Never Use USPS Ground Advantage"
4Click Save
When Checked (USPS Ground Advantage Blocked):
- Cahoot selects other USPS Priority options or UPS & FedEx Ground (if enabled)
- Shipping costs may increase if USPS Ground Advantage was the cheapest option
- Delivery reliability typically improves
When Unchecked (Default Behavior):
- Cahoot may select USPS Ground Advantage if it's the cheapest eligible service
- Cost optimization continues as normal
Service Selection Priority: Sales channel requirements → SKU restrictions → Cost optimization
