Canceling or Deleting Inbound Shipments
Sometimes you may need to cancel an inbound shipment due to changes in your shipping plans, incorrect information, or other business reasons. This guide explains when cancellation is available, how to cancel, and what happens after cancellation.
When You Can Cancel an Inbound
- Draft — Inbound has been saved but not yet submitted
- Pending Approval — Inbound has been submitted but not yet approved
Important: Once an inbound reaches Approved, In Transit, or later status, the cancel option is no longer available. You must contact Cahoot Support via the Conversations panel.
How to Cancel an Inbound
There are two ways to cancel an inbound in Draft or Pending Approval status.
Method 1: From the Inbound Details Page
- Navigate to Work Orders → Inbounds

Note: The cancel option only appears for inbounds in Draft or Pending Approval status. If you don't see it, the inbound has already been approved.
Canceling Approved Inbounds
If your inbound is in Approved, In Transit, or later status, you must request cancellation through Cahoot Support.
Before Requesting Cancellation
For Small Parcel Shipments:
- Void any shipping labels created using Cahoot’s partnered carriers
- This confirms packages have not shipped
- Void each label before submitting your request
Important — Freight Shipments: If a pickup is already scheduled for an LTL/FTL shipment, cancellation surcharges may apply. If the carrier cannot be stopped before arrival, you must refuse pickup, which may result in additional fees.
How to Request Cancellation
- Navigate to your inbound
- Use the Conversations panel
- Submit a cancellation request including:
- Reason for cancellation
- Confirmation labels have been voided (if applicable)
- Acknowledgment of potential fees
- Cahoot Support will process and confirm the cancellation
What Happens After Cancellation
- Status changes to Cancelled
- All associated data is preserved
- Shipping documents can no longer be generated
- The inbound cannot be reactivated
- Scheduled pickups are canceled (fees may apply for freight)
Alternative: Editing Draft Inbounds
If your inbound is still in Draft, consider editing instead of canceling.
- Click Edit Inbound from Other Actions
- Update details such as:
- SKUs and quantities
- Ship-from address
- Shipment method
- Packing information
- Save as Draft or Submit for approval
Remember: Once submitted, you cannot edit the inbound directly. Use the Conversations panel to request changes after approval.
