Setting Up Cahoot Theme Blocks
After installing the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Returns app, complete these one-time theme setup steps so resale ("like new") listings and item details display correctly on your storefront. Plan on a few minutes — there are three quick actions in your Shopify theme editor.
Step 1: Enable the Cahoot App Embeds
App embeds load the Cahoot code your storefront needs across all pages. You'll enable two of them in your theme editor.
1In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize on your active theme.
2In the theme editor, click the App embeds icon in the left navigation (the grid icon, or press Ctrl + 3).
3Toggle on both Cahoot embeds: Cahoot Footer Code and Cahoot Head Assets.
4Click Save.
Step 2: Add the Cahoot Product Display Section
The Cahoot Product Display section is where resale ("like new") listings appear on your product pages. When a returned item is available for resale, it surfaces here so shoppers can buy it directly from the original product page.
1In the theme editor, use the page selector at the top to open your Default product template.
2Click Add section in the left sidebar.
3Select Cahoot Product Display from the app sections list.
4We recommend placing this section below the Buy button. To move it, drag the section to your preferred position on the page.
5Click Save.
Step 3: Add the Cahoot Order Confirmation Block
The Cahoot Order Confirmation block displays the returned item's actual photos and details on the order confirmation (thank you) page when a customer purchases a resale item. Because resale items are previously returned units, this gives the buyer a chance to review the specific item they're getting and decide whether to proceed with the purchase. This is the key trust step in the resale experience, so it should always be enabled.
1Open the editor for your Order confirmation (Thank you) page. Depending on your store, you can reach this from Settings → Checkout → Customize, or from the page selector at the top of the theme editor.
2Click Add block then select Apps.
3Select Cahoot Order Confirmation.
4Position the block where you'd like it to appear, then click Save.
Verify Your Setup
Once all three steps are complete, confirm the following so you know the integration is working:
What you should see:
- Product page — When a resale item is available, a "like new" listing appears in the Cahoot Product Display section on the original product page.
- Order confirmation page — When a customer buys a resale item, the returned item's photos and details appear on the thank you page so they can review before the purchase is finalized.
