This guide walks you through getting the Cahoot Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Returns app installed on your Shopify store — the first hands-on step in going live with P2P Returns. Installation takes only a few minutes, and most of the configuration that follows is handled by Cahoot during onboarding.

Important: P2P Returns currently supports Shopify only. Additional sales channels will be added in future releases.

Step 1: Confirm Your Cahoot Account and Login Access

Before installing anything, make sure you have a Cahoot account with login access to the merchant panel. Your Cahoot onboarding specialist sets this up and communicates your access details to you.

If you've already gone through the sales process and spoken with a member of the Cahoot team, you'll have received a Cahoot login for the merchant panel. Confirm you can log in before moving on.

Note: If you don't have login access yet, contact your onboarding specialist before continuing.

Step 2: Install the Peer-to-Peer Returns App

Install the Peer-to-Peer Returns app from the Shopify App Store. This single app gives Cahoot the permissions needed to display resale listings on your product pages and process returns for your store. Installing it also connects your Shopify store to Cahoot.

1Open the Peer-to-Peer Returns app on the Shopify App Store and click Install.

2Review and approve the requested permissions when Shopify prompts you. These permissions let Cahoot display resale listings on your storefront and process returns for your store.

3Confirm the installation. After installing, the Peer-to-Peer Returns app appears under Apps and sales channels in your Shopify admin.

What's Next

With the app installed, a few more steps complete your setup and take you live:

Remaining setup steps:

  • Set up your theme blocks — Enable the Cahoot app embeds and add the Cahoot sections to your product page and order confirmation page so resale listings and item details display correctly. See Setting Up Cahoot Theme Blocks.
  • Complete your onboarding template — Confirm your branding, returns policy defaults, P2P settings, and per-product configuration. See Configuring Your Returns Portal.
  • Test and go live — Run a test return end-to-end with your onboarding specialist to confirm the full workflow. Once you're satisfied, Cahoot activates your account for live customer returns.
