Granting Cahoot P2P Returns Access to Shopify
Cahoot's P2P Returns app requires collaborator access to your Shopify store so our team can support you during onboarding, troubleshoot return workflows, and ensure your store is properly configured for peer-to-peer returns. This article walks you through how to approve the access request.
Why Cahoot Needs Access to Your Shopify Store
The P2P Returns app connects directly with your Shopify store to manage returned-item listings, create used-item SKU variants, sync inventory, and process refunds. Granting collaborator access allows Cahoot's onboarding and support teams to:
- Verify your store's theme modifications are correctly displaying used-item listings
- Troubleshoot issues with SKU syncing, return label generation, and refund processing
- Review your product and order setup to ensure compatibility with the P2P returns workflow
- Expedite onboarding by confirming your store configuration meets all prerequisites

If Your Store Requires a Collaborator Request Code
Some Shopify stores require a collaborator request code before an external partner can send an access request. If your store has this setting enabled, provide the code to your Cahoot onboarding specialist as soon as possible so they can send the request.
To find your collaborator request code:
1In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Users and permissions.
2Scroll down to the Collaborators section.
3If the option "Only people with a collaborator request code can send a collaborator request" is enabled, the code will be displayed in a field below it. Copy this code and send it to your Cahoot onboarding specialist.
Approving the Collaborator Access Request
From the Access Request Email
1Open the collaborator access request email from Cahoot. Click View request to go directly to the Users and permissions page in your Shopify admin.
2Scroll down to the Collaborators section and locate the pending request from Cahoot.
3Click Review request.
4Review the requested permissions, then scroll to the bottom and click Accept request.
From the Shopify Admin
If you no longer have the email, you can approve the request directly in Shopify:
1In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Users and permissions.
2Scroll down to the Collaborators section and locate the pending request from Cahoot.
3Click Review request.
4Review the requested permissions, then scroll to the bottom and click Accept request.
Once accepted, notify your Cahoot onboarding specialist so they can begin verifying your store configuration for Cahoot P2P Returns.
After Approving Access
Once collaborator access is granted, your Cahoot onboarding specialist will:
- Verify that the P2P Returns app is installed and connected correctly
- Review your theme files to confirm used-item display sections are configured
- Confirm that your product SKU naming conventions are compatible with the P2P workflow
- Run test returns to validate the end-to-end process
Frequently Asked Questions
I don't see the option to approve the request. What should I do?
Only the store owner or staff with the Manage collaborator requests permission can approve the request. Contact your store owner or an admin-level staff member to approve it.
Can I modify the permissions after granting access?
Yes. Store owners can update collaborator permissions at any time by going to Settings > Users and permissions in the Shopify admin and selecting the collaborator account to adjust.
Is this the same access request as the main Cahoot Fulfillment app?
No. The P2P Returns app uses a separate collaborator access request. If you are also a Cahoot fulfillment customer, you may have two separate collaborator accounts — one for the fulfillment integration and one for P2P Returns.
How is this different from staff access?
Collaborator access is the recommended method because it does not count toward your store's staff account limit. See Shopify's guide on collaborator accounts for more details.
