Creating Shipping Labels with Direct Shipments
Use Direct Shipments to create a shipping label that isn't tied to a sales order, such as a replacement item, a sample, or a return when there's no original order in Cahoot. You enter the addresses, items, and package details yourself, then compare rates and print the label.
How to Create a Direct Shipment Label
Direct Shipment labels can be created for any shipment from any address you specify. Each label needs a Ship From address, a Ship To address, at least one item, and package details.
- Go to Orders > Direct Shipments in the top menu.
- Click Create Shipping Label.
- Select or add the Ship From and Ship To addresses. Click Save to Address Book for any address you'll use again.
- Add at least one item by entering a SKU or barcode, or click Add Item.
- Enter the package details: carrier, package type, dimensions, and weight.
- Click Get Rates and select a shipping service from the rates table.
- Review the details and click Create Shipping Label.
How to Print Direct Shipment Labels
Direct Shipment labels, including return labels created from a sales order, are printed from the All Direct Shipments page.
- On the All Direct Shipments page, select the checkboxes next to the labels you want to print.
- Click Print Shipping Label. For international shipments, also click Print Other Forms to print customs documents.
Printed labels show a Shipped On timestamp in the grid.
Shipping internationally? See Configure Products for International Shipping.
How to Void a Direct Shipment Label
Void any Direct Shipment or return label you no longer need before it ships. Eligible voided labels are refunded.
- On the All Direct Shipments page, click the Shipment ID to open the shipment details.
- Click Void Label.
