Creating Pick Lists and Label Batches
Pick Lists and Label Batches are powerful tools that help you organize and streamline your fulfillment workflow. Understanding how these features work together will improve your efficiency and help you manage orders more effectively.
What is a Pick List?
A Pick List is a document containing the list of SKUs and the quantities of each SKU that are needed to fulfill a specific list of Orders. Pick Lists help you efficiently gather all the items needed before you start packing.
What is a Label Batch?
A Label Batch is a group of orders that have been organized together for fulfillment. Label Batches give you powerful control over your workflow by allowing you to organize orders into customized groups. You can group Prime and Premium orders together, batch orders containing specific SKUs, or ensure certain orders ship simultaneously.
How They Work Together
When you create a Pick List, Cahoot automatically creates a Label Batch for all the orders that were visible on the Print and Ship My Orders page. This Label Batch removes those orders from the main page and groups them together so you can:
- Track which orders you're currently working on
- Print shipping labels, packing slips, and pick lists for specific groups
- Manage your workflow more efficiently
- See what orders still need to be processed
When you create a Pick List, a Label Batch is automatically created for all orders visible on the page. This helps you organize your fulfillment workflow efficiently.
Step 1: Access the Print and Ship Page
1Click Print and Ship My Orders in the top navigation, or click the Label Ready Number in the Orders Summary section on the Cahoot Dashboard.
Step 2: Filter for Label-Ready Orders
2Click the Shipping Label Ready Number in the top right to filter out orders that do not have shipping labels ready yet.
Step 3: Generate Your Pick List
3Select either Print Pick List (8.5 x 11) or Print Pick List Detailed (8.5 x 11) under the Print button dropdown.
Step 4: Print the Pick List
4Click the Print button on the Pick List popup to send it to your 8.5 x 11 printer.
Cahoot offers two types of Pick Lists to suit different workflows. Both formats help you gather the right items, but they provide different levels of detail.
Standard Pick List
The Standard Pick List is a summary that displays the Total Qty of each SKU and the respective Shipping Supplies that need to be picked in order to fulfill the orders associated with the Pick List.
Use this format when:
- You just need to know total quantities to pick
- You want a simple, condensed list
- You're organizing items before packing
Detailed Pick List
The Detailed Pick List contains the Total Qty of each SKU and respective Shipping Supplies, but it also includes the list of Order IDs that each SKU belongs to.
Use this format when:
- You need to see which orders contain each SKU
- You're organizing items by order
- You want more detailed tracking information
You can also create Label Batches manually without printing a Pick List. This is useful when you want to organize orders into custom groups for your specific workflow needs.
Step 1: Enable Label Batch Mode
1Go to Print and Ship My Orders and click the Use Label Batch checkbox.
Step 2: Select Orders and Create Batch
2Select the order(s) you want to add to a batch and click Create Label Batch under the Other Options dropdown.
Step 3: Name Your Batch
3Enter Batch Name and Description and click Save Batch.
Once you've created Label Batches (either through Pick Lists or manually), you can easily access them to print documents and manage your fulfillment workflow.
Finding Your Label Batches
There are two ways to access your Label Batches:
Method 1: From Print and Ship Page
1Select the Other Options dropdown and click View & Print Label Batch.
Method 2: From Top Navigation
2Go to Orders > Label Batches from the top navigation.
Printing from Label Batches
You can print Pick Lists, Packing Slips, and Shipping Labels directly from the Action column on the View Label Batches page.
After creating Pick Lists and Label Batches, it's important to know what orders still need your attention. The Pending to Print section helps you track this.
What Happens After Creating a Pick List
When you create a Pick List, the orders are moved to a Label Batch and removed from the Print and Ship My Orders page. While they're no longer visible on that page, you can still track your progress.
Using the Pending to Print Indicator
The Pending to Print section in the upper right corner tells you whether you're done processing shipments for now or if you still have orders that need to be shipped today.
