Adding Alias SKUs
Alias SKUs allow you to link different product identifiers that represent the same physical inventory item. For example, if you sell the same red t-shirt using different SKU names across Amazon, Walmart, and eBay, you create one Primary SKU in Cahoot and connect the other marketplace SKUs as Aliases. This ensures accurate inventory tracking and streamlined fulfillment across all your sales channels.
How to Add Alias SKUs
1Navigate to Products > All Products
2Use the search filters to find your Primary SKU and click Edit in the Action column
3Click the Alias SKUs tab
4Enter the alias information:
- SKU Name (required) - The marketplace-specific SKU identifier
- ASIN (optional) - Include if the item is listed in Amazon Seller Central
- Item Name (optional) - Include if it differs from the Primary SKU's item name
5Click Save to complete the configuration
Adding Multiple Alias SKUs in Bulk
For adding multiple aliases at once (up to 25 SKUs at a time):
1In the Alias SKUs tab, click Bulk Copy
2Enter each alias on a separate line in comma-separated format:
SKU1,ASIN1,ItemName1
SKU2,ASIN2,ItemName2
SKU3,ASIN3,ItemName33Click Save
Verification
When an order is imported for an Alias SKU, both the Primary SKU and the Alias SKU will be displayed on the Order Details page, confirming the alias is working correctly:
Troubleshooting: Fixing Alias SKU Configuration Issues
When orders arrive before Alias SKUs are properly configured, Cahoot automatically creates them as new Primary SKUs. This causes orders to be marked as "No Match Found" instead of routing to "Match Confirmed" for Cahoot fulfillment.
Resolution Steps
Step 1: Rename the Incorrectly Created Primary SKU
1Navigate to Products > All Products
2Search for the SKU that should be an alias (not a primary) and click Go
3Click Edit in the Action column
4Add the suffix "-delete" to the SKU name (e.g., change "ABC123" to "ABC123-delete")
5Check the box at the bottom of the page to save without completing all required fields
6Click Save
Step 2: Add the SKU as an Alias to the Correct Primary SKU
1Return to Products > All Products
2Search for the Primary SKU that should have this alias
3Click Edit in the Action column
4Click the Alias SKUs tab
5Add the Alias SKU information:
- SKU Name: Enter the original SKU name (without the "-delete" suffix)
- ASIN: Include if applicable
- Item Name: Include if applicable
6Click Save
Step 3: Reset Existing Orders
1Navigate to any orders in "No Match Found" status
2Click Reset on these orders (see Resetting Orders for detailed instructions)
3The orders should now route to "Match Confirmed" for Cahoot fulfillment
Verification After Troubleshooting
After completing these troubleshooting steps, new orders with the alias SKU should automatically:
- Route to "Match Confirmed" status
- Link to the correct Primary SKU for fulfillment
- No longer appear as "No Match Found"
