Partner Carrier Compatibility

This setting governs how Cahoot matches shipping services when optimizing orders to Partner locations. For example, Merchant "A" ships using UPS and FedEx, and Merchant "B" ships using UPS and USPS. If both merchants have Partner Carrier Compatibility Preference set to Select Common Carrier, Cahoot will map their orders to UPS and will only select UPS Services when creating labels. In this article, we will discuss the different setting options for the Partner Carrier Compatibility Preference setting.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Login to your Cahoot account and go to Settings.

3.  Select the option you prefer.

Selection options are:

None: There is NO preference, so the system will give the Shipping Partner labels from the Seller's carriers, whether or not the Shipper has scheduled pick-ups for any particular carrier. Example: Order 12345 is for UPS Ground. Shipper only uses FedEx. Shipper is still expected to ship Order 12345 using UPS, either by delivering the package to a UPS pickup location, or calling for a pick-up.

This option provides the most opportunity for optimizations as it doesn't take carrier preferences into consideration.

Select Common Carrier: Cahoot will select the carrier common to both Shipper and Seller. This means that Cahoot will only optimize orders if the potential Seller and Shipper share a common carrier. Example: Order 12346 is being optimized. It will have a UPS Ground label. Merchant A (closest to customer) does not ship UPS, but Merchant B does. System will optimize order to have Merchant B become the Shipper for this order, even though more savings could have occurred if Merchant A was the Shipper (Cahoot did not pick Merchant A because they do not have a common shipping carrier with the Seller).

This option ensures the Shipper can easily fulfill Cahoot orders using the carriers natively supported.

Select Common Carrier Plus Do Not Swap UPS and FedEx with USPS: Cahoot will select the best common shipping carrier, but will NOT select USPS as the common carrier if the order originally had a UPS or FedEx shipping service. This is used when the merchant specifies that their business practices require a tracking number, as not every USPS shipping service provides one. This is the default setting.
