Cahoot will automatically ‘shift’ the shipping service that a customer selected to a more cost effective service BEFORE Cahoot optimizes the order through the network. This allows for merchant savings even without finding a match for orders through Cahoot. See below for examples.
Selection options are:
NO: This means there is NO mode shift. This shows the savings via the Cahoot Network as originally selected by the customer.
YES (Same Carrier): This applies Mode Shift, but only within the same Carrier. For example, if the customer selected UPS 3 day select, but UPS ground will get to the customer in the same amount of time, Cahoot will swap to UPS ground. This is the default setting.
YES (Switch Carrier): This applies Mode Shift, and Cahoot will look at all Carrier options the merchant has enabled to find the cheapest service that still arrives by the specified delivery date. For example, if the customer selected UPS 3 day select, but USPS Priority Mail will get to the customer in the same amount of time, Cahoot will swap to USPS Priority mail.
In addition to this, there is the option to define a specific transit time of 1, 2, or 3 days. This means that Mode Shift WILL change the shipping service to the cheapest option that can get to the customer in the specified (1,2,or 3) business days. For example, if the customer selected UPS ground, and Mode Shift is set to YES (Switch Carrier - 2 days), it will find the cheapest option from all the supported carrier services enabled for the merchant that can get the package to the customer in 2 days or less. This is a global setting.
