Mode Shift Technology
Cahoot's Mode Shift technology automatically ‘shifts’ a customer's requested service to a more cost-effective shipping service when available. This feature kicks in BEFORE Cahoot matches an order to a shipping partner, saving you more money on top of Warehouse Exchange savings.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Login to Cahoot and go to your Settings.
2. Click the Supported Carrier Services tab and navigate to the Mode Shift Enabled setting towards the bottom of the page.
3. Select a Mode Shift option.
Mode Shift Options:
NO: This means there will be NO mode shift. This shows the savings via the Cahoot Network as originally selected by the customer.
YES (Same Carrier): This applies Mode Shift, but only within the same Carrier. For example, if the customer selected UPS 3 Day Select, but UPS Ground will get to the customer in the same amount of time, Cahoot will shift to UPS Ground. This is the default setting.
YES (Switch Carrier): This applies Mode Shift and Cahoot will look at all Carrier options that the merchant has enabled to find the cheapest service that still arrives by the specified delivery date. For example, if the customer selected UPS 3 Day Select, but USPS Priority Mail will get to the customer in the same amount of time, Cahoot will shift to USPS Priority Mail.
In addition to this, there is an option to define a specific transit time of 1, 2, or 3 days. This means that Mode Shift will change the shipping service to the cheapest option that can get to the customer in the specified (1, 2, or 3) business days. For example, if the customer selected UPS Ground, and Mode Shift is set to YES (Switch Carrier - 2 days), it will find the cheapest option that can get the package to the customer in 2 days or less. This is a global setting.
