Save time using the product import feature to create or update multiple items at once. 

 

 Note: To update existing products, follow these steps. 

 

Step-by-Step Guide

 

1. Go to Products > Import Products.

 

2. Download the Import Template and Legend. 

 

3. The Template file includes all the available columns that can be imported, and the Legend defines each column, what formats are supported, and which columns are required fields. Fill out the template file accordingly and Save it to your computer. 

 

Critical Guidelines for CSV Formatting:

  • DO NOT DELETE any column headers. The system expects all columns to exist in the import file. Values in a column that differ from what is already in the database (if applicable) will OVERWRITE the existing database value.

  • Each product should be on its own line; ensure data from one product does not spill over into other lines or the wrong products will be updated with the wrong data. 

 

  • Beware: Excel likes to trim leading 0's out of number fields; example: 0123456789 > 123456789. Please ensure leading 0's are not being removed by Excel. This is especially important for Barcodes.
    • Select the cells on your worksheet where you'll be adding the data.
    • Right-click anywhere in the highlighted cells, and then on the shortcut menu, click Number Format > Text > OK.
    • Type or paste the numbers in the formatted cells.

4. Enter "I" (no quotes) in the Action column. 

Note: The Action column supports two values: 

  • Enter "U" to update existing products
  • Enter "I" to insert (create) new products that don't exist in the system

 

5. Go back to Import Products page, click Select files, browse to your saved CSV file(s), select them and click Submit to upload.

 

6. Once the import is complete, Cahoot will begin processing the import file and adding products to Cahoot. This can take up to 30 minutes.

 

Note: Make sure you check the Status column on the Import Products page for any issues with your import. If any of the rows failed or errors were found, click "Download report" in the Action column to review and fix the error(s) for re-import. The row number in the report is the precise row from the CSV file already accounting for headers.

 

Note: Product Catalogs can also be imported directly from your sales channel. However, if you ship on multiple marketplaces, only 1 product catalog can be imported, not all of them, so be thoughtful which channel to import. Notify Cahoot Support if you would like to use this method.

Important Reminder: Orders containing SKUs that don't exist in Cahoot will be created automatically using information received from the Sales Channel, so make sure your Alias SKUs are configured in Cahoot in advance of listing them for sale to avoid orphaning a product from its parent listing. Channel Name*

The SKU's Sales Channel. This must be from this list of currently allowed values:
